Under what circumstances will communities have to change the position they're using to certify First Class Officer (FCO) salaries compared to the past?

If you're considering increasing FCO salaries, keep in mind that the unit cannot increase FCO salary until the highest non-promoted salary exceeds certified FCO salary.

SEA 396 requires that the certified FCO salary must:

1. Equal the highest non-promoted First-Class Salary plus longevity increases up to 20 years or
2. Service of more than twenty years but less than twenty-five years if provided as a result of the meet and confer process under IC 36-8-22.
