An actuary is a math expert. They help companies handle risk and avoid financial loss.
To do this, they make and read financial and numerical data. This data helps them estimate the future and find issues that could help or harm a business. Actuaries work for many industries that provide financial services, like retirement plans.
Actuaries that work for retirement plans help employers. They make and review workforce behavior data and study financial conditions to help employers offer healthy plans for their employees. They also use the data to make informed estimates, or “assumptions.” These assumptions help plans deal with risk, determine pension benefits and complete other tasks.
